Anyone watching Helix on SyFy?  It's not strictly a zombie show and certainly is heavy on the SyFy elements, but it has zombie-like creatures in it.  For a SyFy show, it's pretty good and has some…Continue

Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead

I think I can say that this sequel to Dead Snow is actually better than the original.  It does this for multiple reasons, the biggest two being that they had a bigger budget and, more importantly, it fully embraces it's dark comic soul.  This movie is full of gross outs that make you laugh. As I said, the filmmakers aren't…See More

Horror Author - R.J. Spears

I have a degree in filmmaking, but have turned to writing fiction.  I write primarily crime/mystery and horror.  I've been writing for several years, but just added horror to my interests in the past year or so.  I fell in love with the zombie genre back in 1978 when I saw Romero's "Dawn of the Dead."  It just blew me away.  I eagerly awaited the release of The Walking Dead series on AMC and , for the most part, have been very pleased with the show.

All of these experiences have influenced my writing.  I love crime stories and I love horror when it's well written with compelling plots and characters.

I have two zombie fiction series in the works:

Forget the Zombies:

Books of the Dead

If you're interested I have several short stories out there different sites, plus several released on Amazon.  You can find these on my website:

My Works

I'm so glad that I came across this site.  I've learned about some zombie books and movies that I would have missed.

Newscaster: It has been established that persons who have recently died have been returning to life and committing acts of murder. A widespread investigation of funeral homes, morgues, and hospitals has concluded that the unburied dead have been returning to life and seeking human victims. It's hard for us here to be reporting this to you, but it does seem to be a fact.

Not your average Zombie Apocalypse

Why does my title say "Not your average Zombie Apocalypse", you ask?  Because the two zombie books I have written so far aren't just some people stumbling around getting chewed on.

One of the things that has annoyed me in recent film and television offerings of the zombie apocalypse are the inept, idiotic people that populate them.  People that constantly act like they have never seen a zombie movie, seemingly doing everything they can to get themselves eaten.  These types of…

hey, komrads!

i'm finally back online on a more permanent basis, so expect me to be around to chat and participate in the group more often.

the last year has been a rather insane one for me, for more reasons that i really should get into right now, heh.  for the most part, 'blue skies burning', Case's Transmissions, and the game under development are still on hiatus until further notice.  the entire project has become too overwhelming and i'm just not ready to…

I know my time has been shortened on what I do at the house dealing with computers or the internet. Yes I have internet at home, but with the boys wanting to watch movies and play games with me, (Battleship, Life and Yatzee) which is fun and the topics that come up with my youngins kill me.

Tough But Making it

Things have been running a little smoother lately, but being a singal parent, working, trying to have time for myself or even trying to keep caught up on anything is rough or never even happens.

I know there are others out there that are doing this and I want to give them props. Specially those mothers or fathers who are raising kids on their own without any help from others.

Since the wife has passed away, I've found that trying to be the compassionate and caring one, on…
