actually they are one in the same. the military uses the metric measurement of the round to describe it. hence 5.56 mm. when Remington made the round. they called it the .223 Remington. but they are the same round. the only real difference is that the military made round is just a little hotter and the reason for this is the primer. they wanted a primer guaranteed to fire no matter what. so if you get the AR15. it will shoot both civilian and military ammo.

so when im older I plan on getting a AR-556 it usually a 5.56mm but they make then in .223 and those round I learned are similar  and I heard a rumor that they can use both is it true???

on a quick note i forgot to mention. if you want to go 38 special. buy a 357 magnum. you can use both shells in it. they share the same diameter of bullet. its just the 357 is one quarter inch longer then the 38. also if you get this in a Ruger 357 blackhawk. you can get a 9mm interchangeable cylinder so it would give you the option of three bullet types instead of just two.

i would go with a good 9mm or 45acp. i am not much on a 40 S&W. shot them before. just something about it that dont work for me. I would also recommend a good shotgun like the Mossberg 590. that way if for some unforeseen reason you cant get to one, you can get to the other.

If your gonna be using it for home defense then I would suggest a larger caliber. Think 9mm, 40 s&w, or 45 acp. A 38. is a good caliber but if you ask me it's meant more for conceal carry.

Rhino, Im posing the question of what sort of gun should I be looking into for a beginners gun? Do you think I should go with a .38? This is for home protection more than carrying and concealing

awesome. then you should have no trouble getting what you want. i can hook you up when you are ready to buy. all you will need to do is let me know which gun shop you want your product sent to so you can do your paperwork.

Oh I already did my time and walked off my parole, I only did a month lock up, it was a six month total sentence, but I got 5 months county parole after my month behind

i understand where you are coming from. but there is something you should know. if those DUI's get you 6 months or more in lock up. you wont be able to own a firearm legally. reason being federal law states that if a person serves six or more months for a felony act of any kind. they lose their right to own a firearm. if i were you. i'd ask the court what i could do to resolve the issues without jail time. like community service or something along those lines. it tends to impress a judge and looks better on the record. and the big plus is you retain your right to bear arms.

Not your average Zombie Apocalypse

Why does my title say "Not your average Zombie Apocalypse", you ask?  Because the two zombie books I have written so far aren't just some people stumbling around getting chewed on.

One of the things that has annoyed me in recent film and television offerings of the zombie apocalypse are the inept, idiotic people that populate them.  People that constantly act like they have never seen a zombie movie, seemingly doing everything they can to get themselves eaten.  These types of…

Back Online, News and Updates

hey, komrads!

i'm finally back online on a more permanent basis, so expect me to be around to chat and participate in the group more often.

the last year has been a rather insane one for me, for more reasons that i really should get into right now, heh.  for the most part, 'blue skies burning', Case's Transmissions, and the game under development are still on hiatus until further notice.  the entire project has become too overwhelming and i'm just not ready to…

I know some of you have been gone for some time and are now back in circulation, which I'm glad to see people coming back. As for me right now, I'm here a week and gone a week.

I know my time has been shortened on what I do at the house dealing with computers or the internet. Yes I have internet at home, but with the boys wanting to watch movies and play games with me, (Battleship, Life and Yatzee) which is fun and the topics that come up with my youngins kill me.

Tough But Making it

Things have been running a little smoother lately, but being a singal parent, working, trying to have time for myself or even trying to keep caught up on anything is rough or never even happens.

I know there are others out there that are doing this and I want to give them props. Specially those mothers or fathers who are raising kids on their own without any help from others.

Since the wife has passed away, I've found that trying to be the compassionate and caring one, on…
