YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE...MAYBE TWICE!
I tried to not start a discussion about this movie. I told myself that it was just another run of the mill haunting movie, that we have all seen a hundred times. But its that little sentence in the beginning of the film that says "This film is based on true events," that I keep going back to. I just cant believe that this is a true story. It really creeps me out. Makes me feel like a kid again, in fact. It reminds me that ghosts are real and that things that go bump really do exist.
I recall being around twelve and watching Dawn of the Dead on VHS cassette one lonely afternoon. The movie was thrilling and I loved it but it gave me this sense of dread. Upon going outside after the movie, I could see figures in the distance on this quiet afternoon. I couldnt help but feel that they were zombies and that I should run back home and lock the doors.
The Haunting in Connecticut makes me feel exactly the way I did when I was twelve. I totally got the heebie-jeebies when I watched it. And the icing on the cake is that the story is based on true events. I wished I had seen it earlier. I actually had it in my house for almost two weeks before I watched it. And now Im like, wow. This film has elements of Amityville and Polterguist but I feel its way better. Almost like a true life hybrid. Did anyone enjoy this movie as I did?
