Joanna Mulder and Frank Russo join forces once again in this cosmic collision! Reflections of a humanoid society are rendered in psychedelic detail on wood, paper and plexiglass. The portraits are of Freaks, Creeps, Monsters and Lost Souls. Both artists' horror, sci-fi and 1980's pop culture influences can be seen in the bold graphic colors of their incredible creations.

In 2012, Joanna Mulder and Frank Russo had a 2-person show at MF Gallery featuring life sized monster sculptures titled "Midnight Monster Meltdown". The combination of their skills was so powerful that a sequel was inevitable!

Joanna Mulder is a Queens NYC based artist specializing in a larger-than-life graphic style, reminiscent of classic comic books and pop art appeal. She draws inspiration deep from within her 1980's childhood, and subjects of focus range from absurdist science fiction mythologies, to contemporary views infused with archetypal portraiture and exaggerated cartoon elements. For this show, she combines pyrography on wood with brightly colored acrylic paint to create a new and unique style.

Frank Russo's art fuses a life-long love for trash culture and rock music with a wide variety of styles and media such as comics, paintings, toys, props and costumes. His inspirations can be seen in the bold lines and brilliant colors of his horrific cartoon imagery. Frank recently discovered an archive of his own 20 year old sketches, some of which he has revisited for this show, combining them to create new pieces, including layered paintings on plexiglass.

Both artists will be present at the "Humanoid" Opening Party, on Saturday May 16th from 7 to 10 pm. Admission is Free and open to all ages. After that, the gallery show will be open by appointment, and the artwork viewed and purchased on MFgallery.net

Contact Martina Secondo Russo by phone: (917)446-8681 or email: info@MFgallery.net to make an appointment to see the show; or for other inquiries.

MF Gallery is located at 213 Bond St., between Butler and Baltic streets in the Gowanus neighborhood of Brooklyn. Take the A or G to Hoyt/Scermerhorn, the F or G to Bergen, or the R to Union.

  1. I Wish we could go to Horror Gallery Opening again.
  2. Do you Remember the Zombie Skate Board Gallery?

Aw man, great times.  I miss these events and going to horror cons.  We were suppose to get one in Brooklyn, but the pandemic ruined it.  This is what we gotta deal with and we don't know what's gonna happen next year.

Trust me I regret not going to more events when they were open.

Now we have to patiently wait to see what is going to happen.
