YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE...MAYBE TWICE!
God damn it...what the hell 2016!!!
For the fourth strait day in a row it is my sad obligation to inform you that another star of screen as burned out. Alan Rickman has passed away at 69 from cancer, according to a family statement:
“The actor and director Alan Rickman has died from cancer at the age of 69. He was surrounded by family and friends.”
We horror fans will most likely recognize him as the man to take up the mantle of Sweeney Todd, in Tim Burton re imaging of the film. As well as other Burton work like Alice in Wonderland. he also had major rolls in both Harry Potter and Kevin Smith’s Dogma. (an under rated movie but one of my personal favorites.)
How ever the world may better know him as the fantastic villain Hans Gruber. Introduced to us in the 1988 action film Die Hard! Rickman's portrayal as ultimate villain Gruber was for me what made die hard such a huge success. Not to take anything away from Bruce Willis's contribution, but a hero is only as good as his villain. Hans Gruber was one of the best. He was polished, urbane, intelligent, well dressed, and utterly maniacally insane. The completely and utterly casual nonchalance in which he took human life brilliantly showcased even to a child the amount of danger and threat that he posed. Leaving no small doubt that was someone that needed to be stooped at all cost.
Thank you for the amazing works to breather to life, you will be missed rest well now Mr. Rickman.
