- Set in the near future, THE PAIN KILLERS is a story of survival by writer/director T. David Carangan and writer/producer Kimberly Anglemyer. Meteors carrying microscopic parasites shower the Earth--unleashing a deadly alien virus that deadens the brain and devours the host from within, creating billions of zombies worldwide. The world's governments unite to enact The Pain Killers Program. Infected test subjects from around the world are inoculated with an experimental vaccine in hopes of finding a cure, but it fails. The chemical reaction between the serum and the alien parasites proves unstable. Hundreds die, but the few who survive are genetically altered--they develop superpowers! Now they have a fighting chance at survival. It's zombies versus superheroes!
