YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE...MAYBE TWICE!

this posting is to discuss the advantages and disadvantages to both weapons. my all time fave has been the AK47. my reasons are these.

the AK 47 rifle.

1) a highly effective and easy to find round. the 7.62x39

2) they can be buried in all kinds of things to hide them from the enemy from pig shit to ice and snow and still work like new from the box.

3) you dont need special tools to fix them. if you have a tool box in the garage then you have all you need for them right there. after all, this weapon was made by a farmer who enlisted in the russian army to fight the germans in WWII. so being a man of the people and for the people, enough said.

4) easy to find parts kits and accessories so you can customize them with very little effort. so they can act as both assault rifle and sniper rifle.

5) the easy to find and use 75 round drum mags for maximum fire power.

the M16 rifle.

1) the round is to weak for my taste. 5.56 round(.223). better sniper round then assult rifle round.

2) they jam after every 75 to 100 rounds due to dirt and burned powder build up.

3) need for specialized tools. when this rifle was made. it was meant for the military man and not the common man in mind. hence forth if you have no idea about what is needed for them. then expect nothing but troubles.

4) limited accessories for them. they are limited to only a hand full of things. so if you find one that has all the "bells and whistles" so to speak. then dont expect to be able to do more with it because their uses are limited to their customizeings.

EXAMPLE: if you tweek it to its finest point to be a sniper rifle. dont expect it to be an assault rifle till brought down to do otherwise. the items out there for this rifle don't allow for the best of both worlds.

5) some may find this item a perk but to me is just plain overkill and that item is the BETA MAGS. these mags hold up to 150 rounds but the weight is just outragously aquard to use. even if the M16 is customized to be an assault rifle. these mags weigh almost as much as the rifle does. and god forbid that you use it with a M16 configured to be a sniper rifle. yes. the weight will make it ideal for this purpose. however try to grab this thing and run in a hurry. to coin a popular SOPRANO phrase. "FORGET ABOUT IT!"

these are my opinions and experiances though. whats your?? lol.

the weight of an AK47 is about 6 pounds empty. the weight of an M16 is 8 1/2 pounds empty. the only time an AK47 is close to awkward is when the drum is in it. the BETA MAG for the M16 makes this weapon a beter boat anchor then a rifle. i love the AK47 because it is a light weight, heavy hitting rifle. and as far as accuracy goes. anything i have aimed at has been a dead on hit. so accuracy its accuracy is very good in my opinion to. the M16 is good for accuracy to but its weight and limited options just have to many down falls for me to give it high recomendations.
i have always thought of the Ak47 as an accurate rifle. i have hit targets up to 175 yards and kept a great grouping. dont get me wrong, the sights do take a bit of getting used to. the knotch in the rear sight is small and can be hard to use if inexperianced with them. but i have owned one of these fine guns and have loved it since.i have also owned theM16 and the civilian version the AR15. yes, the sights are more open and easy to use. but performance wise, the AK47 will win hands down erverytime. reason being in my opinion is because of all the parts the M16 uses to function. if you look at a blueprint of the AK versus the M16. the AK uses way less parts and does the same job. and like i said before the sights can be a drawback if you are not used to them. to fix this problem. use a very small metal file that is just a little bigger then the rear sight opening. taking small strokes, file till you hit the bottom and no further. all this does is open the rear sights up a little more and improve on the accuracy of the AK47. when this is done, you can out shoot any M16 or AR15 on the market today.
I've been lucky enough to use them both and I would overall choose the Kalashnikov series for an assault rifle. Dont get me wrong, I was in the Army for 8 yrs and used both M-16A1 & A2, and I like the weapon, but it does jam too often and needs heavy cleanings. Where as the AK's rarely jam and I dont think you need to clean them at all! (just kidding)I would pick the M-16 for accuracy though. I could get a better shot group w/ the 16 than the AK's. I've hit targets at 300 meters w/ the 16 (iron sights only). I've never shot an AK over 100 meters, so I cant speak on well it would handle at 200-300. Since most Z fighting will be at closer range, it should'nt be that much of a problem. The impact of the 7.62 is deffinatly a better man stopper as well. I currently own an AMD-65 and have had no problems with it.
as far as stamped and milled AK's go. they both perform the same. what impresses me about the AK47 versus the M16 is both its strenght and accuracy. i have never had a problem hitting long range with an AK. like all firearms, a little practice is needed. and yes, the AK47 has a set of sights that need to get used to. i never denied that. i even gave a way to fix the problem. but the strength of an AK47 not only lays in the caliber it has but the simplicity of the design. it is so simple that anyone can work on them without specialized tools. and unlike an M16 can be used time after time without cleaning. when on the move, you dont always have time to clean your weapon. hence another strength of an AK47. left uncleaned, it still keeps going. also it keeps going when recovered from water, dropped or buried in mud, sand, snow, or even what the vietcong in Vietnam buried them in, pigshit. and still worked. do this with an M16 and until cleaned out or dry, all you have is an ugly, over priced club in the shape of a gun. otherwise the M16 would make a good semi auto sniper gun and would give the DRAGONOV SVD sniper rifle (another soviet fave and mine as well) a run for its money. and to clear up a popular myth. an M16 and an AR15 are one in the same. the only differance is the select fire switch. the M16 has a select fire switch that lets you choose between SEMI AUTO, FULL AUTO, AND SAFE. also the M16 is issued to military and law enforcement. the AR15 is in SEMI AUTO only but can be made full auto. it has no place for a select fire switch. just FIRE and SAFE. and because the AR15 has only those 2 settings, they are issued to the common man for public sale for those who pass the background check that all who buy from a gun store mut go through. other then that, they have the same parts, same feed system and the same troubles.
Komrads, heve you seen the show "Deadliest Warrior" on Spike TV? They did a show - IRA vs Taliban. They put the AR-15 (IRA) and AK-47 (Taliban) against each other. Acuracy went about the same, until they did the "mud test". They poured mud into the barrels, firing chambers, ejection ports ,and everywhere else. Of course the AK fired a full magazine w/o any problems, the AR fired two or three, I think, and jamed. Not supprised! The AR's (M-16) are built so tight that a bit of dirt will jam it up. Not so much w/ the AK.
exactly my point. i seen this exact show a few weeks ago. my uncle is a big M16/AR15 fan. he and i watched it together and made a $20 bet before hand. he bet for his fave the M16. i bet for my fave the AK47. just before the mud test i made it double or nothing. best $40 i ever one. lol
sorry for the late reply. but to answer your questions. i own a milled and a stamped receiver AK47. both performed equally to one another so i saw no differance between them. as far as accuracy and my definition goes. the range i go to and i am a member of is only 180 yards long tops. and using iron sights, i hit my targets dead on at that range with no problem. if i had a way to a longer range i would have more info on yardage. but from all the illinformed M16 fans i hear that kind of yardage is quite a distance for the AK47. and yes, the M16/AR15 may have "more chamberings" but when burried or hidden in things like mud? if you do this with any M16/AR15 in any chambering, again all you have is one big ugly club that resembles a gun until cleaned. dont believe me then go to YOUTUBE.COM and check out the "DEADLIEST WARRIOR" show and see for yourself about this fact. and as far as an M16/AR15 that dont need cleaned as often due to a gas piston goes. i have not met so much as one of those rifles that didnt jam except for the AK47 that meet that discription. the parts that are needed for an M16/AR15 to work require that th rifle be cleaned a minimum of 3 times a day in the combat field. my AK47 when i put it to the test went 6 months without cleaning before it started jamming. again, do this with an M16/AR15 and again, all you have is one big ugly club that resembles a gun until cleaned. and as far as air fields go, if it can take an air field then it certainly can hold one. one good example of this is Vietnam. many U.S air fields and motor pools were over run by the NVA and the vietcong using the AK47 dispite the fact that these places had the M16, the M14 and even the belt fed M60 machine gun at their use. so i have no doubt an AK47 can hold an air field. and i never said it was more powerful then the 6.8mm or the 7.62x51 (.308 NATO). but i will say this. it is more effective in a auto rifle then either in my opinion. and as far as a hydrualic buffer goes, i wouldnt have a hydrualic anything in a weapon i had to put my life on the line with because when that system gives out then the weapon is screwed till replace. the AK47 can be fixed by using the minimal of effort and with tools that can be found in a basic tool box. the M16/AR15 cant. and yes, the differances are subtle in the M16 and the AR15. and yes, only guys like us do know the differances. but the average guy on the street dont. so yes, my description was basic. i try to keep things understandable for the common man. so the that the AK has 2 basic settings, semi and auto, makes it more for the common man then an awkward complex rifle that requires a but load of training then the M16/AR15. and as far as parts and quality goes, yes, quality can e high end or low ball and it pays to know your metals to help in this factor. but then again during a fire fight are you gonna look for the quality of the guns parts when being shot at and you need to grab the gun of the enemy while being shot at? not hardly. so that again is a moot point. part of my job as the PEOPLE's ARMORER is to look for a good weapon that not only is good quality but also priced in a way that the common man can get them without loosing the roof over his, and his family's heads. the price range for the M16/AR15 that i seen starts usually around a minimum of $850. the average AK47 is around a flat $300 to $400 dolars. around where the common man can buy them and a weapon that dont require him to go to boot camp to learn and the AK47 meets this with flying colors.
i admit. this is a very impressive weapon. it seems to me that H&K has combined the reliability of an AK47 with the design of the M16. i will definately have to do more research on this rifle. thanks for the post bro.
i like what i saw here. especially when it can to the AN-94. the way the barrel took the recoil would make this a hell of an awsome and accurate weapon.
Very nice! Komrad Rhino... I'll need a few cases of these! The SMG's as well!
