a real good reason zombie flicks tend to bomb in the mainstream box offices is because of the rating systems in place and the "Moral Majority". when the original Romero classics came out, the rating system was no where near as unreasonable as they are today. in the 70's and 80's you could get away with more blood and gore, more language, more everything. modern movies of today, if you use the "F" bomb to much or if you show to much skin, or want a lot of blood and gore are pushing the hell out of an R rating and risk not getting shown at all. granted the way around this for DVD release is to mark it as "UNRATED" or a "DIRECTOR'S CUT" but this does not help much in the theater release of a good movie. if the movie go'ers were to speak out more rather then stand still and let the moral dictators get away with running the show by telling us what we want instead of asking us, then in my opinion we will get the type of zombie movies we all want, love, and crave so much. as we komradz are united so must the common man be in order to reclaim the movie system we want and miss so much. the movie rating system is another example of how unity is not only a needed thing but a major must. united we stand. divided we are sure to fall and see it all go away forever.

I think the reasons newer zombies flicks have bombed is this urge to make zombies stronger and faster than previously conceived. It seems that in the intelligence era where everything is vastly improved over the years, zombies have too. The point of enjoying a zombie movie is not the zombies themselves, but rather the slow, suspenseful descent into a hell on earth situation that makes our skin crawl. Once the zombies stop being track runners and start being the slow creeping undead ghouls we know them to be, then the real drama of a zombie film will reveal itself, the tragedy of impeding doom...

actually LOTD and zombieland did well at box office and were both met with acclaim. Cant say that for survival. It's just that those movies havent met the expectations of the hardcore zombie fan. I for one loved em. I havent been let down by a zombie movie since I 1st watched Oasis of the Zombie and Zombie Lake. Now those are terrible zombie movies and a disgrace to the genre!

The new Day of the Dead was HORRIBLE! Bad acting, horrible casting (sorry Nick Cannon), outplayed story line, and a predictable ending.

ya i havent seen it and plan not along with those others I've heard of, Hood of the dead gangs of the dead so on....just terrible!

"both met with acclaim" I need to research that because those movies are at the top of my WORST ZOMBIE MOVIES OF ALL TIME list.
