YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE...MAYBE TWICE!

I am constantly looking for things i think we here at WZ can find value in and this is by far the deal of the century. It is called the MAJOR'S COMBINATION SURVIVAL RIG offered by Major Surplus & Survival. In my opinion. This is by far one of the most well made kits on the market I have seen to date thus far. its a great starter kit for the basic Bug Out Bag. once you get it. you can customize it the way you want. i think its cool.
I have to get my survival rig bag together.

I know what I want for X-Mas!

makes an excellent starter bag. lol.

The kit looks great for a simple grab bag that you can buy and stick under the stairs 'just in case' and a pretty good price as well.

My main issues or the things I would change a few things though.

Why have a tarp, a poncho and a tube tent?  you only need one shelter at a time, I would rather ditch the tent, poncho and tarp. Get a bivi bag for them quick naps in good weather and get a british MOD poncho, this can be used as a shelter and water/blood proofs, can also use it as a stretcher or a carry bag to get them bodies carried out. The weight saved here means you can go for a 4 or 5 season sleeping bag making it more practicle in the colder weather (most of the time here in wet and windy wales)

Also a cooker would be nice, have a quick surf and search on lightweight backpacking sites on how to make a coke can cooker, ultra light, very small and costs next to nothing to make.

Drop the metal mess kit and get a metal cup (pref titanium for light weight and strength) then you have something to heat your water/food in and something to drink with.

Would also personally change the Lensatic compass and get a simple Silva compass (also be an idea to get a detailed map of your local area)

45 matches? great to start but you will be on the move so need something a little longer lasting, keep these but also get a flint and steal only a few £/$ and takes up less space than the matches and will last years :0)

Bio Degradable Tush wipes? Im guessing these are for wiping after a number 2? if so does it really matter they are bio degradable with all the rotting bodies everywhere?, they also add weight as they are proberly in sealed packets to keep them moist, just chuck a bog roll in the pack instead.

Sorry should really start a thread for what I would pack myself - is a great find if you dont have the time or inclination to build your own pack but not for me. And yes I do actually have a 'bug out bag' but this is also used if I go hill walking as most of the things are the same and the wife hates the fact I wont put it in the attic but you just never know.......................................

those are good ideas. the reason i posted this was so that if there are people who dont really have the time or the cash to build a Bug Out Bag can at least buy a good starter like the one posted above. then once they receive it. they can customize it to their needs for little to no cost because a lot of it will already be there. sure it has a lot of what some might call a luxury item like the tent and the tarp. but some people would look at those items as a major plus. i mean think about it. your in a place where the zombies are not yet. its getting colder each day. finally winter snows hit. with the small tarp under the small tent. you have a way better shelter then what a make shift poncho shelter can give you. as a result. you can actually hole up and make a permanent base camp till winter breaks. and a three season double layer sleeping bag will definitely come in handy for surviving a winter as much as a good stoked camp fire will. so for all pretenses and purposes. this is a very good buy for the person who needs to be prepared in a flash due to reasons unknown.

would go with the flashlight that ya shake.
and hand crank radio.

How much does it weigh in total?

its about 20 pounds of quality Bug Out Gear.

Something I wear with tons of great gadgets is a flight vest, has everything from tourniquets, meds, ropes, knives, seatbelt cutters, lettermen, sidearm, flashlights, hooks and string for fishing, radio, maps, even room to stuff the extra pockets with contents from an MRE, lighter then the bug out bag and you can use your hands for other things.  can even fit a blanket that will keep you warm in a pocket no bigger then your hand :D

i use a tactical vest myself. they have very roomy compartments so i can store things like you mentioned and has a pistol holster and 4 mag pouches. this plus my bug out bag gives me all the storage i need.

the rifle mag pouches can double as real handy storage pouches for other things. the back has a nice M.O.L.L.E system on the back so when on a raiding run. you can put pouches there to or get big enough pouches to take the place of a back pack. this alone with a good bug out bag has so many potentials. its only as limited as the one using it.
