The girl whined over and over fighting with her brother Hector and me, she needed no wanted to see if her boyfriend was still at his apartment waiting for her to come home. I agrued with her that it was different with my parents they were stocked up and i had warned them when this all started, ot didn't help.


Hector grabbed her and shook her trying to get her to calm down

"DAMN IT SONIA, HE ISNT WORTH YOUR TIME"

Hectors words were falling on deaf ears. Pulling over I looked in the back seat of my SUV and laid my hand on Sonia's leg "you know he could be dead and if he is you don't wanna see what they've done to him hun" she relaxed and cried "We'll go by but you're staying in the car with Hector and Mikey, I'll go inside and check it out". Hector didn't like the idea, Mikey started to load the pistol i had gotten at home.

"You'll be carefull.. right?"

"yeah Mikey, I will I got a family to see and one to keep safe now don't I?"


After what should have been ten minutes of driving but now was 45 from all the obstacles we reached the small apartment complex. There was about 20 government housing style apartmets some were duplexs. Sonia pointed out which one was his.


As I walked into the court yard i turned around and gave Hector the signal to start driving in circles around the complex just in case. The door was closed and locked, i knocked and called out " Victor"
there was no answer.

"We don't have time to be nice" I actually heard myself say it as i emptied three rounds from my shotgun into the door hinges and knob. the room was clean with no sign that anyone had ever been in here for a very long time. Fish swam around in circles in their tank which needed water. A Flat screen tv stood on the wall showing snow and the red word mute on the bottom corner. I called out again "VICTOR!"
