Runner

My legs ached, my knees weak, my heart pounding, lungs, heaving, my head near explosion, and I had three stitch cramps along my core.

Yep, I was a runner I turned my head behind me just to see the horde little more than 150 yards behind me. I whirled around and unslung my Marlin 22. LR with 24 x 50 scope and sighted my first one it was a newer one a guy tall with faded red hair his pale grey eyes looked straight at me I took a deep breath, held it for, squeezed the head had a nice neat hole in the left side of his forehead then he went down I was in it I took 3 more shots and then began running again


Back to that old familiar pain I then started to think about a story I'd heard about a runner who beat a guy in a fight because he'd punch the guy once and then run a mile when the guy caught up he'd punch him in the face again the runner did this for 5 miles and then he knocked that asshole out I laughed loudly at the thought of it I thought "Sounds like deja fucking vu!"

I whirled around again and yelled "C'MON YOU ASSHOLES COME AND GET ME AHAHAHA" the odd part was I was literally enjoying myself for the most part I mean when your a guy like me who ran before he could walk when all you knew was long distance running shit I could run at an eight minute mill pace literally forever and an eight minute pace was more than enough to outrun them

And unfortunatly I may be the last and best long distance runner in the world....well that's life nowadays
