Review of THE DEAD, 2010 Zombie Movie.

Just finished watching "THE DEAD". On the cover of the box it claims this is "The best zombie movie of the year", well I can say this. It was better than any zombie movie on the Scifi (I refuse to use the new lame name) or Chiller, but not by much. Quick review - it's about a US Military guy whose plane (a DC3 which I found kind of silly) trying to escape Africa where the dead are rising. His plane crashes and he spends the film ... well that would tell too much. The SFX are decent, the acting OK, but the story is lacking. We never find out what caused the rise or how long it's been going on. And I will say, the part of Africa they filmed is unhospitable to say the least. The zombie are very Fulci like, slow and nasty looking and the SFX are well done, but this (directed by a guy who does commericals) could have been better. Worth a view, but it won't stay on my shelf.
