this is what i been saying all along. we as komradz MUST take the control here. we need to organize. we need to set up communications to keep track of each other. we cant let things like fear of someone knowing where we live keep us in the dark and apart here. thats why i say make a list with someone we can ALL trust.
1) NAMES - REAL ONES
2) ADDRESS
3) PHONE NUMBERS
when you move. let that person with the list know so they can amend the list. same with all phone numbers. HAM RADIO links will help to. eventually the phone lines and cell networks will fail. so will internet services. perpare now. link up now. before its to late here. -

i agree here. we can take it one step at a time. another thing we can do is invest in some GMRS handheld radios for short range like say a 15-20 mile range outside. reason being any komradz on the road can also use these to find and link up to other komradz on the move. i keep one on me no matter where i go so i can try to get hold of someone if need be for help in a jam. these below have a great range of 18-20 miles. i carry one exactly like these except i dont need to keep them charged. it uses 3 AAA bateries. great radio back ups.

you know. this part of the thread gave me a rather unique idea. if you want these ham radios at about roughly a third off. my business permits are great in this fasion. i can get hooked up with a wholesale warehouse that sells ham radios. and like joy said, if we all chip in then we can make it happen. i dont see how this can bomb if you ask me.

first off. we need to find a source that not only sells these radios. but also have a dealer program for those who wish to have a few to sell from their business. if i had a source to go with. i can go from there. then it would be just a matter of sending them out to the persons who want them. this wont be a cheap venture but like you said, if we all chip in then there is no reason it cant be done. and you cant beat a wholesale price when it comes down to it.

i understand this but the issue of a supplier still remains. if i had a supplier then i can use my business permits to get these HAMS less then the retail mark up.

i found a source for HAM radios. on the wholesale they will run around $700. the unit i looked at can reach across the country and retail cost around $950.

Everyone should always have an alternate source for food other than your local supermarket or grocery store.
After a large-scale disaster, it may not be readily available for long periods. Or, as our global economic meltdown worsens, the prices may be prohibitive and, the quality questionable – to say the least. Whatever your reasons, I believe that it is imperative that -if your living environment permits it, you should have a vegetable & spice garden that can at the very least provide you with extra high quality produce to supplement your diet. -
