Aaron Eckhart Toplines Lionsgate's 'I, Frankenstein'
Comments

Aaron Eckhart (The Dark Knight, Battle: Los Angeles) will play "Adam Frankenstein" in the Lakeshore Entertainment, Hopscotch Features and Lionsgate production of I, Frankenstein, shooting this January in Australia.

The film was written and is to be directed by Stuart Beattie, and is based on a graphic novel by Kevin Grevioux, co-creator of the underworld franchise. Lionsgate will distribute the film in the United States with release already slated for February 22, 2013.

" 'I, Frankenstein' is a modern-day epic: Frankenstein's creature, Adam, has survived to present day due to a genetic quirk in his creation. Making his way to a dark, gothic metropolis, he finds himself caught in an all-out, centuries old war between two immortal clans."

Writer/director, Stuart Beattie explains, "Mary Shelly's story is about the creation of the first human being. This is the story about that being becoming human

TV: 'House' Producers Reteam with NBC for 'Frankenstein'

NBC has ordered a drama script billed as a modern-day take on the legend of "Frankenstein."
Script comes from two of the executive producers of "House," Russel Friend and Garrett Lerner, via that series' studio, Universal Media Studios, and BermanBraun, reports Variety.

"House" is coming up on its eighth and likely final season given Fox has signaled it has no intent of going any further, though UMS has the option to shop it elsewhere UMS is a logical home for a "Frankenstein" revival given Universal Studios owns the intellectual property to classic movie monsters including Dracula, Wolfman and The Mummy.

Friend and Lerner are writing partners who have been on "House" since 2005, graduating to EPs in the fourth season. Their previous credits include "Martial Law," "Smallville," "Roswell" and "Boston Public."

Osment set to “WAKE THE DEAD”

He saw dead people in THE SIXTH SENSE. Now, Haley Joel Osment will be experimenting with the dead in a new FRANKENSTEIN project.

Variety reports that Osment will star in WAKE THE DEAD, a FRANKENSTEIN retelling that’s set in the present day. Jay Russell will direct the film, which is based on the graphic novels by Steven Niles. Osment will essay the role of Victor Franklin, a college student experimenting with reversing death. Russell and Jim Hart adapted the script, and Guns ‘n’ Roses guitarist Slash will produce with Michael Williams and Rob Eric through Slasher Films. Production will begin this fall with no release date yet set.

Fox Building Own 'Frankenstein' Monster

The Frankenstein monster is hotter than ever -- and we've yet to see one actually go into production.

Next on the list is Fox, who has tapped Chronicle scribe Max Landis to pen a screenplay based on Mary Shelley's classic monster tale for the studio, reports Variety.

Davis Entertainment is attached to produce the untitled pic, which Fox will distribute.

No director is attached -- or even a front-runner at this point -- though studio is eyeing several high-profile helmers including Paul Greengrass, David Yates (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix) and even Ron Howard had been circling the project, but it appears he's out, given that The Dark Tower is still up in the air and Tuesday's revelation that he's in early talks for Formula 1 biopic Rush.

“I, FRANKENSTEIN” poster art UNDERWORLD vets Patrick Tatopoulos (who did the creature design for the first two films and directed UNDERWORLD: RISE OF THE LYCANS) and Kevin Grevioux (who came up with the story for UNDERWORLD and was an actor and producer on the movies) are teaming up for a new film project: I, FRANKENSTEIN.

Tatopoulos is set to direct I, FRANKENSTEIN from a script by Grevioux for a 2011 release. The story centers on Frankenstein’s Monster fighting against other classic monsters. “You know, any number of vampires, werewolves, Dracula, zombies, ghosts, goblins,” Grevioux says. “Regardless of saying that, it’s going to be totally serious. It’s going to take itself seriously, but not take itself too seriously and it’s going to be cool. It’s basically one of the things that horror fans, like myself, have been wanting to see for a long time.”

Stopping IN

It's been awhile since I have been home here on Wicked Zombies...I've been doing so much searching within this outer world of life...

I've since gotten re-married and have been working back in security for the last couple of years. Have started back writing again and have purchased an actual house. It's hard being away from my family even though I need to work and support them, but it's a shame a person has to work so much that they miss their kids growing up...

   Well…
