YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE...MAYBE TWICE!

What do you get when you cross a shield with a guillotine? -THE TOMBSTONE

So what do you get when you cross a shield with a guillotine? two and half feet of wood and hardened steel undead brain bashing lovingly dubbed, "The Tombstone"! the only thing better then smashing zombie skulls in while protecting yourself from blood splatter and mashing rotted teeth, is the satisfying thump of their maggot ridden heads hitting the ground after having driven the tempered edge of this precision blade through their necks. the dead may have risen from their graves but the Tombstone sends them back Rest In Peace you undead freaks!

THE TOMBSTONE 2.0

A possible new addition to my popular tombstone shield, encompasses a stainless steel dome bolted to the front. it is used to greater concentrate the point of force for shield bashing, as well as protecting the otherwise exposed strings for the handle. finally it serves to better protect against bladed weapons making the shield more practical for combat against living opponents. this is just a mock up and I'd like to gauge the community's reaction before proceeding. so what do you think yea or nay on this new mod?

The Undead will not be by you easily!

Did you make and design this yourself?

yeah its all me! some people play golf, others collect coins me i make weapons and tools. so do you like it?

This weapon is really very well thought out and put together. Great job!

thanks but its not really done yet. i plan on putting a stainless steel dome on the front to help better concentrate the force of a shield bash. it will also protect the back of the strings for the handle. i also want to sheet of aluminum to it so it can be more blade resistant. I'm also kicking around the idea of adding a tazer to the front so that when bash someone it tazes them as well. you know give it too them with both barrels. and what I'd really like to do is find away to make it bullet proof. i could probably cut up a bullet proof vest to do that but thats if i ever get my hands on one.

You have your work cut out for you but keep the ideas flowing and you will make it.

ideas aren't the problem getting the cash to pay for all of them is. i have journal full of project plans i'll never build just because i can't afford too.

the tazer part will be good against the living. but i do like the blade part. sorta puts me in mind of the Spartan shield.

well i can't say that wasn't an inspiration for me, and the tazer should work equally well against living and undead attacks. since a tazers man function is to cause muscles to contract in the targets body against their will. pain is merely a side effect and comes more from the sudden and forced contraction of the muscles then from the electricity its self. think of a Charley horse and then imagine thats your whole body and you get the reason why a tazer works. why it should work on a zombie is simple, as long as the brain is still sending electrical commands to the muscles to move then the oscillating current of the tasers shocks will still be able to override those commands. do you remember in high school biology watching the film of a scientist making a dead frogs leg twitch with electricity, same thing. and even if somehow zombies have developed some other way to send commands to their muscles with out electricity, as long as the muscles them selves still remain biologically the same they will respond to the electricity.

the drawback to that is also it may give them a stronger grip in your shield and make it harder to shake them off. as it is. a zombie can keep going longer on its feet because they dont feel muscle fatigue and cramps. and if the current makes them lock up an a already firmer then normal grip. then it will become like an unbreakable vice when you hit the switch. hence making a rotting killer glued to your shield until the current is cut. that is why i would only use the tazer on the living and not the dead. something to keep in mind there.

possible but instead of freezing them in place it will make their arms drop to their sides and make their legs give out under them like this.

A Robber Getting Tased

see arms at his side, stiff as bored, then falls flat on the floor.

but that is with a normal human being. if you go by The Zombie Combat Manual's explanation on how a zombies muscles are versus a humans. i dont see this one happening. reason being they will have no nerves to react to the current like we do. that is what aids in the reaction of a tazer on a human. with no active nerve endings for things like pain to tell the muscles what is going on. i cant help but feel the muscles will lock up and if this happens while gripping something. its not going to be able to let go unless the current stops. if you go to YouTube and watch some of the videos where someone grabs a live electrical wire. the muscles in their hands lock up because of the voltage. add to it the amperage and they cant come anywhere near able to let go. tazers work along the same lines just without the voltage. and if you note in the video. this mans arms didnt exactly drop completely to his sides. his forearms were still chest level and he was still clutching the money and the bag he wanted to use to put the money in. so it does go to show some of what i said. the grip didnt release until the voltage stopped and the robber was to disoriented to do otherwise. hence also due to an active nervous system. i just dont see a zombie reacting the same way.

i disagree on the fact that zombies don't feel pain, after all if they didn't have active nerve endings then they would have no sense of pressure and there fore would be unable to walk. imagine your whole body was numb to the point of not feeling it, how could you know how to take a step where to put your body. walking is a completely touch based act. and why would only the nerve endings for there sense of touch be dead and not the ones that carry signals to the muscles telling them to move. now that is to say that while they may register the sensation of pain just ignore it. you could say they have the ultimate pain threshold. fact of the mater is for zombies to be up and moving around they half to have a fully functioning nervous system otherwise they would just be immobile reanimated brains hardly a threat. but hey until they actually start to rise well never know for sure. and I'm not worried about them holding on to the shield because the tazer would only be used for quick zaps when i bash them. and it would proudly have the contacts placed on that steel dome. what do you think of that by the way. its functional but i'm worried it clashes with the esthetics.
