So far, we haven’t seen any villain for Godzilla to battle in Japan’s upcoming Godzilla: Resurgence. And while the below TV spot doesn’t change that, it does give us a cute look at how Japanese marketing and cross-promotion plans can work.
What’s going on in this video is that the film has teamed up with Parco, a Japanese department store franchise, and their mascot, the Parcoala, which is an adorable koala bear that got blown up in size and scale to face off against the King of Monsters.
‘Godzilla: Resurgence’ is Officially a Reboot
According to ANN, Parco will be holding a massive sales event from July 1st through the 18th. On top of all the clothes and other things that will be on sale, they’ll also have a limited edition Godzilla: Resurgence poster where the giant lizard will be sporting Parcoala’s ears. So, if you’re in Japan, definitely make sure to pick up a copy!
