Bruce Campbell Starred in the Coen Brothers Faux ‘Blood Simple’ Trailer

While they can be a little hit and miss at time, there’s no denying that the Coen brothers, Joel and Ethan, put out films that are wildly entertaining and visually fascinating. The Big Lebowski is one of the funniest movies I’ve seen and their most recent film Hail, Caesar! is devilishly charming. But their debut movie Blood Simple, which came out in 1984, is one of the most terrifying films I’ve ever seen.

I know that I make the case for some movies to fall under the “horror” umbrella, such as Seven, The Silence of the Lambs, and the such. However, I won’t be doing that with Blood Simple. It’s a straight up thriller and holy shit does it do its job right.

In order to get investors interested in the project, the Coen brothers put together a sales pitch in the form of a teaser trailer that gave a taste of the story they wanted to tell. And while the character of Julian Marty was played by Dan Hedaya (The Addams Family, Alien: Resurrection) in the final product, the role in the pitch was none other than the groovy king himself, Bruce Campbell!

You can watch the teaser below to see Campbell in action, although his time is very limited and you never get a clear look at this face. Also, if you haven’t seen Blood Simple, I highly recommend it!
