Batman to be rebooted… again

Yahoo Movies writes: The popular Batman franchise is set for yet another major reboot once Christopher Nolan completes his current trilogy.

Next year's 'The Dark Knight Rises' will be the final film with Nolan as director, however, he will continue as producer for future instalments.

Nolan first started working on Batman in 2005 with his hugely successful 'Batman Begins' – which focused on the story behind how a young Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) became the Caped Crusader. It was seen as one of the most drastic reboots in superhero cinema history, taking it back to the gritty roots of the Dark Knight.

And now the series is set to be revamped yet again.

Warner Brothers’ president Jeff Robinov told the LA Times: "We have the third Batman, but then we’ll have to reinvent Batman… Chris Nolan and (his producing partner and wife) Emma Thomas will be producing it, so it will be a conversation with them about what the next phase is.”

The big question surrounding this surprising revelation is “Why?” The latest reboot saw the Batman franchise transformed from a series of camp adventure movies starring a fairly embarrassed George Clooney and, although well acted, a laughable Robin played by Chris O’Donnell into a rough and ready action thriller that served as a perfect platform to elevate Batman back to the top of the superhero hierarchy (and quite rightly too).

Further plans revealed by Robinov suggest possible reasons behind the decision as it seems Warner Brothers have grand plans set out for the future of superhero films.
The movie boss revealed he is keen to finally get the 'Justice League' up on the big screen. It will be DC Comics' answer to the upcoming Marvel superhero team move 'The Avengers' - which features 'Iron Man', 'Hulk', 'Thor’ and ‘Captain America'.

Whether Superman or Batman will appear in a 'Justice League' movie is unclear as yet, but expect to see 'Green Lantern', 'Wonder Woman' and 'Flash', among others. Robinov wants the movie to be released in 2013.
