Wicked Zombies

YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE...MAYBE TWICE!

I haven't been here in forever! Hey guys :D hehe. So, I was doing my bacteriology lab, and suddenly it dawned on me, that zombies would obviously have some kind of motive to support their behaviour. Nothing is mindless, especially when they act in a patterned fashion like we assume zombies do- bite, infect, and increase numbers, or bite and eliminate the non-zombies. its kinda like a virus. Viruses don't aimlessly infect cells, they do it so they can use the cells machinery to replicate and increase their numbers. So, why do zombies do what they do? What drives them to?

What's odd is that, if the virus eradicates the ability to become 'full' for a zombie, then how exactly is all that material digested? The body, though no longer human, still has limited digestive function, limited hormones and enzymes. So are they like, super digesters or does the flesh just rot within them? And in with case, won't it mean they'd have to stop eating at some point? Come to think of it, if we can figure that out, we may be able to find a feeding pattern for them, which would be really helpful to us with regard to surviving an apocalypse.

My thoughts exactly. Because even a stomach has its limits. If a zombie keeps eating. It's going to either rupture the stomach or blow out the abdominal area all together.

And then all the rotting material would just cause  systemic toxaemia, which would kill the zombie anyway... in which case we can assume that the reason more zombies have to be created is because of how rapidly the previous zombies die out, due to their "diet".

That is if all the normal rules still apply. And God I hope they do to some degree. Gives humanity a fighting chance if it does. Lol

I don't see the systemic toxaemia really applying to the all ready rotting corpse of a zombie...Anything that would kill us, like diseases or some kind of rupturing of the stomach or liver or kidney failure or anything of that nature wouldn't have any affect on an all ready dead body, be it animal or human body...

As a reference, look what happened to Rick's wife Lori in The Walking Dead...The zombie ate her entire body and when Rick found that zombie, the zombie was barely able to move, but kept trying to at least bite Rick...

Now as swollen as the zombie was, you knew (or at least I did from the Rehab courses for physical rehabilitation) that the belly had literally ripped apart and with the weight of the meal, had crushed everything dealing with the eternal organs...

I believe that and had pieced together from not only movies, books and even some research of my own, that the zombie virus isn't going to be like the flu or a cold, but it's all ready inside of us...We've been infected with viruses from the beginning of time and though our bodies adept and defend us against millions of simple sickness's, the zombie virus has already been either injected from a antibiotic or some sort of shot to being digested by us from all these so called chemicals that these companies use to preserve our food for shipping and delivery to stores where we purchase our food...

As for the spread of the virus, the bite is one of the easiest ways to transmit just about anything without it being air born...

But like most diseases and viruses, they consume, destroy and replicate and spread without really having any kind of purpose...We as a human race believe and have to have a reason for something to happen or a why something spreads like it does...Everything has to have a purpose, because without purpose or reason for the acts of life, we as a human race believe that theirs no way something should live or be alive...

But what if there is no reason for the acts of the dead??  What if there is no purpose for the virus or its acts?? What if it's just shit happens??  Then that means all the knowledge and technology in which we pride ourselves on having and knowing is and will be worthless...

Well he just killed every idea I had, Lolz. But who knows? Even that could be the case. We won't know till it really happens. But I do hope there's something that would possibly be a weakness of the zombies, even if their bodies aren't affected by the typical diseases we suffer and die from.

The way I see it. Any theory is as good as the next being we don't know what we will be facing. Lol
The way things are looking a virus will the beginning of the zombie apocalypse and the end of humanity.
We will teeter on the brink of extinction. But I don't think we will be totally wiped out. We will lose many generations to the plague and the zombies it makes. But humanity has always managed to bounce back. Just this time it will be slower.
You have such a Sunny take on the Zombie Apocalypse.
With you watching over us Komrad we should have a fighting chance.

i think once again, we've come full circle as to the origins of the zombie.  i think that while it's very logical and most likely to be viral or bacterial in nature, we shouldn't rule out other possibilities.

for example, brian keene's novels paint a rather interesting picture of a supernatural basis for zombification.  and in his books, all of the questions presented have been addressed.  despite the fact that we live in the modern, technologically driven world, we still learn new things about the universe every day.  so, imo, a supernatural (at least from our perspective) basis remains a possibility.

i've read zombie fiction that cites technology, biology, mutation and just about every other conceivable method for the creation of the zombie as we know it.  the reason i bring this up is because the nature of the zombie we're dealing with could have everything to do with its motives.

using 'the rising' again as an example, the zombies' motive was the death of all living creatures.  while they rather enjoyed eating the bodies of their victims, they chose not to do too much damage so the body would remain a suitable vessel for the zombie it would become.

while the simplistic viewpoint of nature's uncomplicated 'feed/reproduce' motive is most likely, i think it's important to consider all angles.  it could be important.

some food for though.  pun intended.
