YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE...MAYBE TWICE!
By The End of the Week I Will Be Part Zombie
I am scheduled for heart surgery Wednesday morning. At that time I will have my aortic valve repaired, and a section of my aorta replaced with either a pig, cow, or synthetic section of blood vessel. In short, i will become either part undead, or part cybernetic. My preference is for the cow tissue, but the surgeon says he won't know what is most appropriate until he sees what my heart looks like.
I am writing here instead of at my blog, Zombie Logic, because I really don't want people i know to see how I feel about this. At first I suppose I was a little angry. My cholesterol and all my vitals are excellent because I eat well and take care of myself, but I have a congenital heart defect. But after my initial anger, I felt very fortunate that it was found. My aorta has swelled up to over 6.3 centimeters. meaning for a long while now I have lived every day with the specter of sudden death looming over me and never knew it.
Also, I think it's slightly cool that I will soon be either part bovine or swine-ine. I've always enjoyed this community and wanted to post my feelings here just to get it out there so it doesn't fester inside me.

Beating the odds of an AAA is pretty impressive. Getting in touch with your inner beast will now have new meaning for you.
My guess, and hope for you, is that the successful implantation of said graft material(s) will perhaps work for you a la World War Z... thus making you our inside Zombie Killer.On the serious side... well, hell, that was serious.
So, best wishes. Having taken part in thousands of surgeries over the past couple of decades, I have great faith that you'll not only do fine, but most likely not start mooing, rutting, grunting, etc., HOWEVER, if you suddenly develop a nose for truffles, you're going to be a very rich guy! (So, maybe you can toss some truffles and new Zombie weapons in our CHristmas stockings?? LOL)

If you're still feeling a little worried, then.... <.< ...... >.> ..... O-O.... okay, keep this to yourself, but you're not on my delivery list. You're going to survive and be just fine. Now I have to get back to reaping and delivering.
