Safe House

Safe House

Well while we realize that if a zombie apocalypse ever came we would need more then just a gun and some scrappy people many debates have been prompted as to one of the most Vidal things. Where to go to be ... well as safe as one can be in a world full of zombies. So this is where we have decided to give you our thoughts on the matter. We have and will continue to post Ideas of possible refuges and their advantages. If you have any then you are more then welcome to share yours as well. Not only is it smart to have a plan but also its kinda fun for a geek like me. Don't judge. You know your geeky in your own special way also :)

Ohio has a few castles that were brought over stone by stone and some that were just built by locals. Neither one would take a whole lot to build up for a good defensive stand point and for the most part are very self sustaining. Here are just a few of them.

Loveland Castle

Chateau Laroche

Piatt Castles. (yes. there are two. lol.)

Castle 1

Castle 2

I been to them all. They can be take easily by a human. They can be reinforced real easy. And they are all self sufficient as far as their own power and water goes. the only thing that would be needed is food and that can be raided for in the homes and near by towns.

London Tower

Picture

A World in Flames

During a zombie apocalypse thousands of millions of people would most likely be infected, charging and killing and eating anyone they see in their sights. To resolve and hopefully be helpful in some ways, I have taken different surveys and gave polls to certain people in which would be considered the safest places to be. Here are a list of them, the pros and cons of each of them.

Castle : Considered to be the top of the list in terms of how many people voted as the safest place to be. This is a good place to stay in cover. The castle has strong walls, arbalest in the towers, possible moats, courtyards, keeps, and etc. Each of these features can be used or be helpful in a zombie invasion. There is a special particular castle that I personally think would be a great place to be considered a base. Of course however, there are pros and cons to be considered with.

The Tower of London (1) : Known for it’s haunting and ghostly past. This castle can be well used as a defensive base against zombies if you are not afraid of ghost and poltergeist. It also holds a residence hall, a courtyard, a barracks, huge walls and towers, and city defense. All of these could be used in some way or another.

Resident Hall (1) : It is as it sounds, a place for the people inside the castle. Provides room and board for the survivors and helps others in need. The prison inside the castle could also be used as a residence if the Tower of London would be overwhelmed with survivors. Perhaps no more than five hundred people could easily live inside the Tower. If a zombie invasion were to ever occur, at least we would have a place to sleep. Might be a little hard if you hear voices, but I would rather choose to sleep with ghost than zombies…. unless the ghost are creepy sexual rapist ghost. I doubt that ghost would want to rape me in my sleep.

Pro = Provides room and board.
Con = Might be hearing voices in your sleep.

Courtyard (1) : An area for public buildings such as inns and market places. We all need to get out in the open without fear and gives a chance for public meetings to deal with the threat just outside the city gate. In short, a place for everyone to gather together and discuss issues and the such.

Pro = Places to get food and drink and see your fellow survivors.
Con = Might not be such a good thing if the virus is airborne. In that case, we are all screwed.

Barracks (1) Duh, it is considered a place for training soldiers and a special place for soldiers to eat and drink. In any situation where a castle is being siege, by the living or by the dead, we all need soldiers to protect and keep watch from the walls. Soldiers can be specially trained in this area in both range and melee attacks. If we have no barracks, then it

The Edinburg Castle

Picture

So My take on the whole where to stay and rebuild thing is the greatest ever... CASTLES!!! Yep... Here is one of them that I thought would be good. The Edinburg castle. Now I know there will be some difficulty with this. Mainly because we live in America and its not like you can drive down the street and oops there it is but I think the benefits drastically out way the risks of any other places and even the journey. Okay here are the bullet points to help you see.

  • Has working and stocked cannons, catapults. As well as a very well stocked small arsenal in house.
  • Well stocked with food and drink.
  • Only one entrance to guard with a high top guard house as well as interior and exterior gates
  • A military jail.( because lets face it there are some people out there that show a very dangerous side when it come to living vs dying.)
  • Stables for animals like cows and such.
  •  Chapel
  • On site water tank.
  • Barracks( you know just encase we run out of royal rooms to snag.)
  • On site stocked hospital.
  • Grounds for growing crops.
  • Surrounded a semi well populated area full of supplies to scavenge just in case.
  • And the majority of the outer wall is surrounded by steep cliffs

So I know getting there wont be easy but with all of that to benefit from its worth the risk. Lets face it. There is a reason they worked and that some are still used for military purposes to this day. I will also be posting pics of the entrance as well as a diagram of the grounds. Tell me what you think of this one?????

Supai Arizona

Here are the Positive Bullet Points

  • Population of under 500. If the infection has reached there would be an easier time of clearing them out.
  • The main site has 4 main access points. They are very narrow and defensible.
  • Declared camp ground with abiding utilities, including in ground water source, solar panels for power, full access CB radio system, etc.
  • Fertile grounds for growing crops.
  • Well stocked food supplies for long period stays.
  • No roads within 8 miles of the site. You have to hike the whole way, which may seam like a disadvantage but as soon as we get there it will be equally as difficult or even more so for the infected to get to us.
  • Extremely high ridges.
  • Helicopter access there and back if we have a pilot.

This also ties into a story I will soon be posting in Survival about the herbs to look for that will help you with on site meds. The tribe of Indians that live there are also Herbalists and will have access to many plants that will help us with things like pain and inflammation. This will help for those who do not know much about this subject to more easily spot them. It is thus far the most viable place in the United States that has the best chance of survival. Almost 500 people live there every day and have for a long time. Check it out and tell me what you think.
